The UrbanFire Binge Radio TV & Film Festival

The UrbanFire Binge Radio Television & Film Festival Overview

Brought to you by The UrbanFire Binge Networks, the UrbanFire Binge Radio Television & Film Festival (The UBRTF Fest) is an annual conference and festival dedicated to facilitating the organizational foundation of the African Diaspora by showcasing quality radio, television, and film content by and about people of African descent. Founded by L. Siyf Smiley El, The UBRTF Fest supports emerging and established artists who express the soundtrack and visuals of the African community while fostering a wider range of images, stories, and storytellers than those represented in the entertainment industry. The UBRTF Fest takes that media and showcases it to The Audience for marketing partnership forging and feed those exceptional works into The UrbanFire Binge Networks. The UBRTF Fest is committed to facilitating African artists/ content producers and our community's businesses exploring the same opportunities as our so-called mainstream counterparts - we can absolutely provide these opportunities for ourselves. The UBN and UBRTF Fest are recognized as a vital pipeline for African-Americans to bring home our creative talents, technical skills, business ideas, and our money for investing in Africa and Africans, and to team up with our own people and leverage these resources to develop TORCs. This pipeline positions us to leverage our talent in front of and behind the mics and cameras to tell our own stories that draw eyeballs and earholes to experience the products, services, and ideas that the business community shares waking up our sleeping economies all over the continent of Africa. Annually held during the month of June, the festival and conference is comprised of five action-packed days of music and talk radio, broadcast television and films, engaging panels, networking events, master classes and more… Along with the star-studded opening night screenings to the inspirational closing content producer awards ceremony night, we have created a special place in all of this for our sponsor and vendor partners. Not only are we telling our creative spirits and business minds how to work together to reclaim control of the narrative and to develop Africa, we are positioning our vendor partners right smack in the middle of it all to demonstrate practical uses of the best tools to get the work done effectively and efficiently. It's the UrbanFire Binge Radio TV & Film Festival. The most important event of your career in the homelands of our ancestors!

We're going to provide a balanced portrayal of the images being projected to the world about our people, and circulate the wealth that is generated by this content on our own continent - AFRICA!

Since our foundation in 1995 our goal has been to use digital technology to create experiences with a deeper impact.
If you are “Melanated,” meaning you are of African descent living in Africa and the Diaspora, and an investor, entrepreneur, or content producer/ artist, come be a part of the most important event of your career. We are going to do three things:

1. DECIDE what will and how to position Africans to effectively and efficiently develop Africa for prosperity,

2. NETWORK with serious Africans based on that strategy, and

3. TAKE ACTION TOGETHER on whatever we come up with to develop the TORCs!

The UBRTF’s GroupTherapy Symposium, sponsored by KOTF TeleRadio Network Inc, is a national search to identify outstanding comedic talent. People who demonstrate a natural ability to be funny! It is a networking symposium that identifies talent and business representatives who are interested in expanding their business via the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce by way of supporting the talent behind African media.

9:00AM
UrbanFire Screenplay Symposium - hosted by TBD

The KOTF UrbanFire Screenplay Symposium 2023 is meant to encourage and promote the production of creative, contemporary, engaging and relatable screenplays that we will turn into original movies for television. The symposium is meant to:

• Encourage filmmakers to offer a fresh perspective and submit contemporary stories with a focus on the African American cultural experience with wide audience appeal.

• Encourage filmmakers to creatively center around entertaining, heart-felt and relatable topics that resonate and appeal to African American audiences.

• Expand upon the genres/formats that tell these entertaining stories. Genres include, but are not limited to comedies, romantic comedies, dramas, and family adventures (submissions should be non-period stories).

This is not a competition. It is a networking symposium that identifies talent and business representatives who are interested in expanding their business via the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce by way of supporting the talent behind African media. People compete when there’s a limited supply of a prize. There is plenty of the prize with KOTF TeleRadio Network.

9:00AM
That StarFire Symposium - hosted by TBD

Are you an aspiring actor ready to get to work? Have you been waiting to set your acting career into motion? HERE’S YOUR CHANCE. In association with the KOTF TeleRadio Network, Inc., UrbanFire Radio-Television & Film Festival presents That StarFire Symposium Open Call Monologue Showcase! Here is what the five points of our star represents.

Charisma. Even if you're not going to be playing a leading role in the media, there's still a certain charisma every producer wants to see. Whether you're working as a security guard or a vice president, having a certain likability will help grease the wheels of getting work done and keeping everyone happy.

Integrity. How many times has a celebrity gone off the deep end right before his or her movie comes out? Media producers aren't the only ones who have to worry about the behavior of their crew and cast members. All producers want to know that you're going to conduct yourself in an appropriate manner. Make sure you don't tell any lies in your interview or on your resume. Even a relatively benign half-truth could cost you the role.

Work ethic. The most successful actors aren't always the most talented. Instead, they are the ones willing to put in the hard work at the expense of all else within reason. Make sure your future producer knows that you have a strong work ethic, too.

Versatility. No actor wants to be pigeonholed in the same the kind of roles over and over again. And no producer wants a worker who's a one-trick pony. In any organization, there are times when you need to be on standby as the understudy for another member of the team. In your next role casting, make sure you convey how many different roles you can play and your willingness to jump in where needed.

The look. You don't have to have superstar looks to get a role, but you do need to look like you care about your appearance. It doesn't matter what business you're in. The truth is, looks count. Make sure your clothes are clean and up-to-date. Make sure your shoes are polished and well cared for. Make sure your hair is cut and your nails are clean. You might not think it matters, but it does.

9:00AM
It's Time For Some Action Conference - Shelley Stewart III & L. Siyf Smiley El

Enough talking. It's time to mash the gas pedal - stomp it through the floor like Fred Flintstone! We will take our Manifesto and explore where in Africa we need to go first, what we need to do, and with who. We will take what we have learned together and build an action plan with the people in attendance and leave out the door on a mission.

1:00PM

In this GroupTherapy session, we are healed with laughter by The Comedy Convicts. Bubba Loc. Hurricane. And Big Ced.

YOUR UBRTF FEST SPEAKERS

Make no mistake about it. These speakers are here to do more than talk to you. We've done enough talking already. It's time for some action! These experts will guide us through to completion on DECIDING what our home should be like and what our desired positioning should be in the global marketplace, who should be NETWORKING with whom, and how we can TAKE ACTION TOGETHER based on that strategy. Remember... Our goal is to kickstart massive development of Africa by controlling the images of us that our children see and making sure the revenue these images generate touches as many African households as possible for as long as possible. By doing our individual parts the African continental Gross Domestic Product will expand creating a global economic boom affecting the global economy all the way down to Fort Worth's District 8.
